Notice of Commencement

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by regulation 2 of the Tobacco Products (Traceability and Security Features) Regulations 2026 the Government has appointed 15 July 2026 as the day on which the Regulations come into operation with the exception of the following provisions-

1. regulation 3 to the extent that it gives effect to Schedule 3;
2. regulation 4 to the extent that it inserts-
   1. section 14N(4) into the Tobacco Act, 1997;
   2. sections 14S to 14U into the Tobacco Act, 1997;
   3. section 14V into the Tobacco Act, 1997 to the extent that it applies to authentication elements providers or subcontractors of authentication elements providers;
   4. section 14ZA into the Tobacco Act, 1997 to the extent that it gives effect to Schedule 3;
   5. section 14ZB into the Tobacco Act, 1997 to the extent that it gives effect to Schedule 3;
3. Schedule 3,

which will come into operation on 1 December 2026.
